"I searched for God and found only myself. I searched for myself and found only God".-Sufi Proverb

The more you are interested in something, the more your intention to understand, the more simple, clear, free the mind is. Then verbalization ceases. After all, thought is word, and it is the word that interferes.-The Book of Life, J Krishnamurti

If you think you are free,
    You are free.
If you think you are bound,
You are bound. For the saying is true:
    You are what you think.

    -Ashtavakra Gita 1:11

    Mindful Marketing
Tools for building a successful yoga business.
    June 2006

I had a great time at the Toronto Yoga Show a few weeks ago, making new friends and catching up with old friends. As always, I was inspired by my yoga peers. It is such a joy getting to know you...seeing what we have in common, how we can learn from each other, and most importantly how we can use this forum to stay in union. To stay in yoga. Staying in yoga means more than the beautiful practice of asana. There are also the daily details to manage. It is this practical piece of running a yoga business that Mindful Marketing addresses. As one yoga teacher in Toronto said, quoting a Sufi proverb, "Praise Allah, but tether your camels." In this issue, I thought it would be fun to follow up on some questions that were posed in the workshop I lead about marketing your business.

    Much love always,

    Megan McDonough, Business Yogini

    Inspirational Quotes

Kelly from Fitness 360 for Women asks, "Where do you get your inspirational quotes?"

Sometimes I get quotes from what I'm reading or from other people. But the easiest way to find theme-specific quotes is on the web. Three of my top picks for quote sites are Quoteland, Quotation Reference and the Quotations Page.

    Time for Marketing

Vickie from Spirit in Motion Yoga asks, "How do you manage time for marketing?"The two things most people want more of is time and money. No matter how much we have, we can always use more! There are some natural times for increased marketing efforts, including holiday time (for gift certificates), seasonal changes (like spring or the New Year when people are thinking about getting in shape), or communicating upcoming special events. On a day- to-day basis, I just have ongoing marketing tactics like this email newsletter that are built into my schedule. And if I can't do it all, I hire others to help. (Click here if you want to see how I use email marketing in my yoga business)

Time Management, though, is a skill that can be learned. If you want to be more productive, or use your time more wisely so you have space to do the things that bring you pleasure, consider this resource called Time Mastery.
