Have you ever said, "I have all the time I need to get everything done"? If so, you're in the minority. Most of us feel time-deprived, working in a scarcity model that dictates a shortage of time. Like money hang-ups, this time-poverty mentality limits you. Time is infinite; you can play with it to accomplish what you want.

Join me in this Time Mastery class during the Kripalu Yoga Teachers Conference. You'll learn practical steps leading to time mastery as you apply yogic awareness to see that time mastery is really self-mastery.

In other words, you can get it done.

    Mindful Marketing
Rich Living for the Holistic Entrepreneur.
    July 2005

"The rush and pressure of modern life are a form, perhaps the most common form of innate violence. To allow oneself to be carried away by a multitude of conflicting concerns, to surrender to too many demands, to commit oneself to too many projects, to want to help everyone in everything is to succumb to violence. More than that, it is cooperation with violence. The frenzy of the activist neutralizes his work for peace. It destroys her own inner capacity for peace. It destroys the fruitfulness of his own work because it kills the root if inner wisdom which makes work fruitful."
--Thomas MertonWhen racing against the clock, we tend to label the experience as "stressful" rather than "violent". The word "stress" seems less dire and somehow more acceptable. But Merton reveals the truth: fighting time is indeed violent. And you need not look any further than your own experience to know this. In what ways do you create inner violence by rushing? In this issue of Mindful Marketing you'll get a mantra for time abundance and learn how yogi Thomas Ashley-Farrand leverages his marketing to save time. More important than the practicalities of time management, though, is to simply be aware of the timelessness from which you arose.

May your journey be a peaceful expression of your timeless Self.

    Platform Pros

Thomas Ashley-Farrand, author of Healing Mantras, has mastered the art of time abundance. A Vedic priest who has collected thousands of English-transliterated mantras over the years, he writes books, records CDs, leads tours in India, and keeps a busy schedule of public talks and appearances. So how does he make time to market his business? The answer is simple: By using platforms. "Having a platform makes marketing easier and saves a lot of time," Ashley-Farrand says. His regular mantra feature in the Om pages of Yoga Journal has resulted in a steady flurry of visitors to his web site and consistently high sales of his current book, Shakti Mantras. Your platform doesn't have to be in a high-profile publication to be effective. Ashley-Farrand suggests writing a short article about yoga for your local newspaper, including information about what you offer as a teacher. Though you probably won't get paid, your voice will reach many prospective students. A web site is another time-efficient platform for marketing your business, he says. Once you have the nuts and bolts constructed, a web site is permanent and requires little maintenance. In addition, list information about your services on internet directories such as www.yogafinder.com, www.yogasite.com, and www.yogaserve.com. It's fast, easy, and free advertising. For time abundance, Ashley-Farrand suggests the mantra, Om Kala Vide Namaha (Om Kah-lah Vee-deh Nah-mah-hah): Om and salutations to the knower of the right time. Before you begin, offer a prayer for guidance in accomplishing the spiritual objective of time mastery. Then, recite the mantra for five minutes each day for 40 days.
