"The world I am trying to understand is one in which men think they want one thing and then upon getting it, find out to their dismay that they don’t want it nearly as much as they thought or don’t want it at all and that something else, of which they were hardly aware, is what they really want."
"Within the Self, there is a central force of character that unifies thoughts and actions. When you are not in accord with your goals, you may feel indecision, conflict or malaise; when you are, a sense of self-confidence and well-being will surround you."
- I Ching no. 45

Did you have a good summer? For most yoga teachers, summer is a chance to vacation. Attendance slows down and teaching demands lessen. Hopefully you have taken advantage of this to enjoy the season.
For me, fall is transition time. Rather than wait for the New Year, when everyone else is making resolutions, this time is perfect to refocus energy.
Are you creating what you want in work and in life? In this season of harvest, are you growing and fostering the things you want in your life and weeding out the unnecessary?
If you want more clarity, come to a special workshop called Reaching In, Reaching Out at the famed Kripalu Center in Lenox, Massachusetts October 18-19. In it, you’ll learn to listen intently to you, deeply reaching within for the fuel that creates your outer reality. Want to join me as we play with conscious creation? Click here for the details...
Much love always,

New Business Checklist
Check out this resource for business questions. I use this site freqently to check trademarks and to get help with those pesty small business questions like "Should I be an LLC?" and "How do I trademark my logo?"
For me (and maybe you, too) these questions are not exciting or fun to explore, but they are necessary.
In particular, if you are thinking about opening a new studio or starting a new business, you'll want to check out this checklist.

| Successful Surveys
Mindful Marketing reader Lou Bennett asks, "I would like to use an evaluation form to get feedback from my students. I am not sure how to word it, and would appreciate any suggestions."
Check out this article on how to create a successful survey.

| Magic Marketing Words
Another Mindful Marketing reader asks, "Are there any proven examples of successful marketing words?
Yup, there are lots of examples of so-called "magic words". Here's a short list from business developer Mary Schmidt.
While I think it's helpful to use these words, there's more to it than that. Instead of relying on "magic" words, consider these three suggestions:
- Write truthfully, from your heart, in an authentic manner with the reader in mind
- Ruthlessly cut out extra words, leaving the essence
- Add a clear course of action to guide the reader.
Here's my attempt to guide you, dear reader, to an action step. Join me at the Kripalu Yoga Teachers Conference in October.
